Dursley Operatic and Dramatic Society (DODS) is an amateur theatre group based in Dursley, Gloucestershire. We’ve been part of the local theatre scene for over 70 years and continue to put on plays, pantomimes and musicals for the community.
We’re a large and active group, with over 60 members, all brought together by a shared love of theatre. Some members are brand new, others have been involved for decades, and in a few cases we even have three generations of the same family taking part – which says a lot about how much people enjoy being part of DODS.
Onstage and off, everyone plays a part. Acting, singing, building sets, sewing costumes, running lights and sound – it all happens because members muck in and support one another. Experience isn’t essential; enthusiasm and a willingness to be involved matter far more.
We’re proud to be an amateur society. We work hard, enjoy the process, and value the friendships that come from spending time together creating shows. Rehearsals are busy, sociable, and focused on putting something we can all be proud of on stage.
