DODS Raise £3,510.05 for the Chantry Centre!

Fund-raising by Dursley Operatic and Dramatic Society over the past year has raised £3,510.05 for its charity of the year, the Chantry Centre in Dursley.

The amount was raised through collections at each of the society’s productions through the year and a special fund-raising production of the musical Rent in July.

The donation was officially handed over to Chantry Centre trustee Adrian Judge at the recent DODS annual general meeting of its members.

DODS chairman James Easey said: “Thanks to the huge generosity of our audiences and their support for our special fund-raising production of Rent, we are delighted to have raised such a fantastic amount for Chantry Centre to help them with their exciting refurbishment plans.”

Adrian Judge, Chantry Centre trustee, said: “We are very thankful to the DODS and to everybody that kindly donated to raise this tremendous sum.  It is really amazing to see the Chantry Centre is so valued and supported by the local community.  We wish the DODS all the best with their fundraising efforts for the next nominated charity and for their upcoming performance of Black-Adder II”.

The DODS charity of the year for their forthcoming season of productions will be Maggie’s in Cheltenham. The centre offers free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their families and friends.
